Our community working together to help other South Australian communities in their time of need.

DOLLARS 4 TANKS
WHERE IT BEGAN
Dollars 4 Tanks was established from excess funds from the local fundraising event Dollars 4 Doonas. Dollars 4 Doonas was a community initiative to raise funds and supply bedding packagings manufactured by local bedding company MiniJumbuk, to people in South Australia who lost their homes in the bushfires over Summer 2019/20.

Our local area was also affected by bush fires in the same summer and after speaking with local farmers there was a need for water tanks to allow for fast refilling of fire trucks.

THE PROJECT
We found an enormous need for large steel water reserves (104,000 litre tanks) to be strategically placed in our community, which would allow for fast refilling of fire tanks and greatly assist to contain future bushfires in a shorter time frame.
NEXT STEPS
We were provided with 12 local locations of urgent need of water tanks, these areas had been burnt three out of the past four years.
With support from our community, many local businesses and our local member for Mackillop, Nick McBride the excess funds were used to install water tanks in strategic areas within our region.

COSTS
Each of these tanks costs around $25,0000 to supply, install, equip and be compatible for CFS units and also having 2 ports for local farm units.

Plus support from local farmers to ensure the tanks are full and ready for use.
